Working in the winter
Winter is here in full force, so I hope you're prepared for some relatively uninteresting outfits for the next couple of months! Winter is my least favorite season to dress for, not surprisingly... It's only because I get so bored of my closet! I dress in a uniform when it's cold because I can't be bothered to put much thought into an outfit when it's going to be covered by a coat most of the time. This outfit is a departure from that uniform, which generally consists of a sweater, skinny jeans, and snow boots.
Since it's been snowing since we shot this look and everything is either wet or icy, I wore this outfit to work with snow boots and my black parka. I tend to "wishcast" (a meteorological term for forecasting what you want to happen and not necessarily what will happen) when I plan my outfits and that's definitely what happened with this one. Even though I couldn't wear these velvet boots on my "commute" to work (which is just a walk in the parking lot, haha), I ended up bringing them along so I could change into them at my desk.
I'm so happy (and lucky) that my office doesn't have a strict dress code. I don't know what I would do in the winter if I had to wear more formal attire! This is about as formal as I get: a blazer over a nice (velvet!) top. My trick to wearing a sleeveless top under a blazer in the winter and not freezing? Long-sleeved Heattech tees by Uniqlo. They're lifesavers in the cold! I wear either a long-sleeved or sleeveless Heattech tee every day in the winter.
Hope you have a wonderful end to 2017 and equally as wonderful (or better!) start to 2018! xo
