Spring into summer
Phew! I'm back after a few days of madness. I had to finish dissertation edits, turn it into the thesis office, pack up my life, move it all to Idaho (with the help of my amazingly sweet boyfriend), and then fix my dissertation so I can (hopefully) officially graduate this semester. It's been an exhausting whirlwind of events to say the least, and we still have to unload the moving truck! (Thank goodness for brothers, right? Haha.) I fully intended on getting this outfit up on Wednesday or yesterday, but I had way too much to do and not enough time in the day to get it all done! (I didn't get to my new place until 1:30 am last night after five hours on the road...)
Here is what I think will be my last spring outfit! I recently shared a post on the four ways to get more wear out of your dresses, and here I'm showing another example of layering pants under a short dress. I've had this dress for years now (I think it's one of the oldest items in my current closet), and it now feels a little bit short to wear alone, so adding pants is a great way to get more wear out of it! I previously wore it with my pair of black ponte pants and thought a regular ol' pair of skinny jeans (with the added drop-hem detail) would look great, too. Luckily it cooled down enough to try out this look. :)
I think I would have preferred wearing this outfit without an extra layer on top, just because I was kind of into the look with the spaghetti straps of the dress, but I wasn't wearing the right bra. ;) I tried on a few cardigan/jacket options before settling on this cardigan that matches almost perfectly. I quite like the monochrome effect and how the shape of the cardigan follows the shape of the dress in the front! Seems like they were made for each other, no?
Hope you all have a great weekend! :)
