Humidity hair
I knew that the humidity in south Florida would be no joke, but I don't think I was truly prepared for the way my hair would react to it. Back home in Idaho (and in Utah), it gets hot, but we don't have any humidity. Because of that, my hair air dries relatively straight...but in Florida? It dried into a huge frizzy poof of waves! After having my hair up in a bun the previous day, I took it out at night and it was almost as curly as my mom's hair, which is naturally curly. I couldn't believe it! I embraced the crazy for a few days. ;) (But let's be honest, the heat and humidity meant that I had it pulled back most of the time, haha.)
This striped mini dress remains one of my very best ModCloth "Stylish Surprise" purchases—and it also happened to be my first! Since it's too short to wear day-to-day without some sort of layer underneath (especially now that I'm employed), I knew it would be perfect for this trip. While the fabric is a bit more substantial than the other pieces I brought with me, the relatively loose fit and lack of fabric overall meant it worked just the way I hoped it would! We ended up playing a little round of beach volleyball and I probably should have changed out of this so I could run/leap/jump around a little more...but oh well. :) (We still need to rematch my dad, though. We played two-against-four and lost terribly—my dad being one of the two and me being one of the four!)
