Half and half
Things are looking really exciting around here. I mean, you know me... I hardly ever wear a grey and black color combination! Ha. ;) But in all honesty, it was kinda fun to dress half in grey and half in black. I wasn't sure if I'd like the sweater and coat together because they are so close in color, but I didn't hate it! I'm kind of a fan of the quasi-monochrome situation happening here.
Honestly, I wanted to wear my shiny patent leather Marc Fisher chelsea boots with this look because I think the texture would have contrasted well with the grey knits, but goodness, I haven't worn these Sam Edelman boots in a while! These were one of my original ankle boot additions, and I've worn them once for every dollar my parents spent on them if they had paid full price. (Even though they were a gift, I still like it keep track of cost-per-wear to make sure I'm actually wearing them as much as I thought I would when I asked for them in the first place! These were definitely an excellent gift.)
Other than the slight mix of textures, here's the other styling notes I thought were worth mentioning: 1) the visible ankles break up the black so it doesn't look too heavy and 2) the gold zipper on the coat picks up the gold on the earrings (this was probably something only I noticed, but I'm proud of myself for noticing such a subtle detail).
