Cozy attire
Winter abruptly started a couple of weeks ago…and then the snow slowly melted. Now we’re a week out from Christmas and there’s no more snow in the valley! Gotta love it when that happens. I think we have a chance of getting more snow this weekend/early next week, so maybe we’ll get lucky and end up with a white Christmas after all. But once Christmas is over, the snow can go away for good. I won’t be mad. ;) (Well, it can stay in the mountains, lol.)
The best part about the cold weather is the opportunity to break out my new lace-up boots! You may remember that I also have an old pair of black combat-style boots from ModCloth (last seen here), and these boots by Marc Fisher essentially replace those…except for the fact that I feel comfortable wearing the old boots in rain and snow, and I’m babying these new boots, haha. I actually don’t mind wearing these in a little bit of snow, but I don’t think I’d wear them if it was actively raining or snowing or if the snow was deeper than a couple of inches. The soles have quite good traction, which I hope will work well in icy conditions.
I wanted this look to feel cozy yet look streamlined, so I wore my new black authentic stretch skinny jeans and topped it off with my heavy cable knit sweater and ribbed black beanie. The puffer coat was a necessity, but I also like how it adds some extra texture and doesn’t add bulk. The ivory, black, and cognac color palette is a long-time favorite of mine and one I’m sure to keep repeating for winter days to come. I also just realized that my hair kind of matches the pom-pom on the beanie! Ha!
