Well-loved
While I love everything in my closet (for the most part, haha), there's something about those articles of clothing that I've had for years and haven't stopped wearing that feel extra special. Take this shirt, for example. I've had it since my early days of blogging (June 2014, to be exact) and it's still one of my favorite shirts to wear four years later. The downside to wearing and loving pieces for years is that they don't last as long as you may hope they do. This shirt is noticeably fading around my shoulders and tops of my arms. (Compare the photos above to the first time I wore it back in August 2014.) Korri pointed it out when I wore this outfit and said that he liked how it faded near the top...and that's when I realized that maybe it's on its final wears because it's definitely not supposed to look faded!
This shirt didn't get a ton of wear during my grad school days, but I find myself reaching for it more since it works well for the office. I am definitely not ready for this shirt to be on its last legs (or arms, as it may). I haven't found a shirt that's quite like this one since I bought this one four years ago, so it pains me to get rid of this shirt when I know I won't be able to find one like it right now. On the other hand, it's always fun to refresh my closet, and maybe I'm ready for something new to take its place. What do you think? Does the fading look terrible to you? When/how do you decide to pass on your well-loved items?
