What to Wear for a Summer Work Conference
I’ve been in Dallas, Texas, for a work conference this week. It’s my first academic/professional conference since I was a grad student, and boy are conferences exhausting! It’s nice to get out of the office and learn what others are doing, but it’s also a lot of information in a short amount of time and my brain is feeling a bit mushy. Haha. I’m so ready to decompress at home this weekend!
Dallas in high summer is not exactly my idea of paradise; it was hot and humid all week (Dallas just hit and exceeded 100°F this week for the first time this year). I had a hard time deciding what exactly to bring with me, knowing that it was going to be an oven outside and thinking that it was likely going to be a freezer inside. I wasn’t wrong in my thinking…holy cow has it been cold in the conference rooms this week! I brought along this outfit but was very thankful to have my camel cashmere cardigan with me to wear over this. (Didn’t think I’d be wearing cashmere in Dallas in the summer, let me tell you!)
Even though my linen tee and cotton-linen pant outfit combination was not warm enough for the conference A/C, it’s still a great option for a summer work outfit. I’m pretty sure that I sing the praises of linen every week in the summer. ;) The pants are basically just glorified pajamas which you can never go wrong with, either!
