Out-of-office Office Party
This year, for the first time in my life, I attended more than one Christmas party! (Well, one was hosted by me...but still. I got to dress up for two parties!) Chris's research group's Christmas party was the second we attended, and I had fun putting together a second party outfit. Most bloggers around this time of year write about buying brand new, fancy party dresses, but I wanted to create an outfit around a dress I already owned. At this point in my life, it's pointless for me to drop a large chunk of money on a dress I can only wear at one time of year. Plus, it's fun to remix!
For this look, I pulled out my LBD with faux-leather details. I had to wear tights with it, and originally I had planned to wear opaque tights, but I couldn't find my second pair and my first pair were in the laundry, so I opted for these semi-sheer tights. I wore my dark red heeled ankle boots that make me feel really tall and finished the look with sparkly statement earrings and my camel coat for warmth. (I wanted to take my coat completely off for some photos, but the sun was already down and I needed it on at least one shoulder!) I felt very festive in this look. I thought I would be chilly with the short sleeves on the dress, but I ended up being perfectly comfortable—Chris, on the other hand, was a bit too toasty in his wool sweater. I will definitely keep that in mind for future holiday parties! ;)
