Winter 10x10 — Outfit 5
This outfit marks the halfway point of my winter 10x10 remix! Woohoo!
Once again, I took a break from getting dressed... I went two days in between this outfit and outfit #4. I didn't leave the house either day, so I didn't see the point in getting dressed in an outfit beyond lounge clothes. Then I realized that this challenge could go on forever if I didn't just wear the outfits, since I could go days without leaving the house if I'm feeling lazy enough. I put this outfit on not anticipating any outings. My boyfriend was dying to get out of the house, though, so I guess it was a good thing I decided to get dressed. ;)
This outfit is perfect for lounging around the house. It's comfortable yet still put together if anyone decides to drop by (or if you happen to run a quick errand). I layered my chunky knit cardigan over my black seed stitch sweater for added warmth. I actually love layering chunky/thicker cardigans over thin sweaters; it's kind of an unexpected look that is so cozy on the coldest of winter days. I did wear fleece-lined tights under the skirt which was the right choice on an especially chilly day (the high temperature was 21°F, but I was out in the evening when it was around 5°F!). As with my previous two outfits, I swapped the shoes for more practical snow boots to trudge through over 7" of new snow that fell on the existing 8". As an added bonus, my parka fit comfortably over my chunky cardigan!

ITEM #5 — CHUNKY KNIT CARDIGAN
Is there anything better than wearing a giant, chunky, wool cardigan in the wintertime? I mean, I guess drinking a mug of hot chocolate is a pretty close second. ;) But in all seriousness, I can't say enough good things about this cardigan. I ordered mine a size up from my "usual" at Everlane, and though it does fit a bit more oversized, I've come to love how it feels like I'm wrapped in a cozy blanket when I wear it. We've been having some downright frigid temperatures this month, so I'm very happy I included it in my 10x10.
The only downside to this cardigan is the fact that it pills pretty easily, but I normally wear it around the house so I don't mind too much. I was able to hand wash it which didn't cause any problems with the wool (and remove a chocolate stain with my goat milk soap stain stick), but it does weigh approx. 50 pounds when wet so that made for a difficult rinsing process, haha. If you want a similar cardigan yourself, I rounded up a few options below (but none seem to be quite as cozy as this one!).
