Blogging through the chaos
I need to get something out of the way before I dive into today's outfit post. It probably seems extremely superficial of me to be sharing my outfits at a time like this (OMG, when will the madness end?!). To be honest, I feel like I should be writing posts about what we can do to be activists, but also...I don't want to write about that. I think we get enough of that from other forms of media. Plus, I'm sure you come to see what I'm wearing, hear about my life, and (hopefully) be inspired. As important as it is to be aware of everything happening right now, I think it's equally as important for us to stay sane, and for me, that means blogging about my life and my outfits just as I've done before now. I don't know what my brain would be like right now if I didn't have this hobby. My head is seriously spinning (and not just because I'm getting over yet another cold). With that said, if you want to hear my more "political" thoughts, head on over to my Twitter. Otherwise, I'm going to stay the course over here...sound good? :)
Phew, now that that's out of the way... Let's discuss this outfit!
I've had each of the items in this outfit for at least two years now, but I have to be honest: I've thought about getting rid of this scarf. I just really haven't worn it that much (it actually hasn't been worn since the last time I blogged it nearly two years ago!). I've been better about letting go of the items that I just don't wear enough to warrant keeping, so it was on the chopping block...until I thought of this outfit. The colors make it a little more difficult to wear, but it goes well with camel and with forest green, so I had to pair it with this sweater at some point. For now, I'm going to keep it around, but this may be the last time you see it here.
To balance the outfit, I finished the look with my cognac ankle boots instead of my typical black ankle boots. I didn't want the overall look to be too dark. I've been trying to wear combinations that aren't so typical of me (as shown here) in order to make my outfits more "interesting" and less predictable, which is something I talked about a bit in my style resolutions post. I feel like I'm off to a good start! I was sick when I wore this over the weekend, but I had to venture out to pick up some things at the grocery store (which included cold medicine). Thank goodness my nose didn't decide to drip during this photo session!
