Power outfit
Do you have an outfit (or outfits) that when you wear it, you feel like you can take over the world? This outfit is one of mine; I like to call it a "power outfit" because I feel, well, powerful when I wear it. I'm not sure why tucking a thin sweater into high-rise denim and adding a belt does it for me, but it does. Perhaps it's also the addition of the heels? I definitely feel more powerful when I am taller. Maybe that's a #shortpersonproblem, haha.
I wore this outfit to the most recent all-hands meeting involving fellow grad students and faculty members from various colleges and universities across the state. We get together about once a quarter to discuss research progress and plans moving forward. The grant is ending this summer, so this meeting was mostly focused on the plans for after it ends (which essentially boils down to writing proposals for more funding).
The forecast called for a chilly and wet day, but luckily the rain held off so I could wear this outfit. Even though the meeting was indoors, we switched buildings halfway through. I have to admit that this outfit wasn't the most comfortable to sit in for extended periods of time (the high-rise tends to dig in). The top buckle on the heels also irritates me when I walk, so I added moleskin on the inside to alleviate that—and it worked! I actually also on had my black statement earrings by Moorea Seal (last seen here)... but I got home, took them off, and then forgot to put them back on before heading out to shoot photos. That's never happened to me before! Those added a little touch of (unseen) glam. :)
