Grad Student Style: Convocation
Here's my second graduation outfit! The day after commencement was my college's convocation ceremony. During convocation, there are a few short speeches, and then each person walks across the stage to "receive" their degree (and get hooded if they are a master's or PhD candidate). It doesn't seem like it would take that long except each person has a short bio that is read. Luckily, I've always been one of the first people across (I think only one or two PhD candidates walked when I received my master's two years ago), so then I get to enjoy the rest of the ceremony. It amazed me how many bachelor's candidates already had jobs lined up! Guess I should have gone into engineering, ha.
Anyway, outfit time! I declared on Instagram a few weeks ago that I'd be wearing these sandals. I had trouble picking out what top/skirt or dress to wear with them, though... And I couldn't get this dress out of my head even though it was listed on my Poshmark closet at the time. Thank goodness it didn't sell or I'm not sure what I would have ended up wearing! You may remember that I wore this dress on my last first day of school, so it was fun to bring it full circle and wear it to graduation (even though I'm not technically done with school quite yet, haha). I loved how this outfit contrasted the black look I wore for commencement the day before. I'm so happy the weather was warm enough for dresses!
Now all that's left is to defend my dissertation in a couple of weeks! Wish me luck! I'm already nervous about that part...
