Thoughts on January
Well, here we are—in a new year! And in my least favorite month of the whole year: January. At least we get it out of the way, right? #positivethinking
Sigh. The month after the holidays is always such a drag for me. It's cold, dark, and not nearly as festive. Plus, it has 31 days, so it feels like a struggle to get through compared to February.
On the other hand, it's the start of a new year—a fresh start. The spring cleaning bug hit me early and I'm ready to get rid of everything in my house and clean. I've been listing items like crazy on Poshmark and I'm hoping to find the time to go through the remaining boxes we have scattered all around the house. My goal is to spend 15 minutes each day during the week tidying up or cleaning and then do more on the weekends. Eventually our house won't be such a mess if I keep up with it, I hope!
To keep myself from feeling too down this month, I'm focused on three things when I get dressed in the morning: coziness, softness, and warmth. (This is my coping mechanism throughout all of winter but it's definitely higher priority post-holidays.) Now, cozy and soft aren't necessarily the same thing. Something can be soft but not necessarily cozy; cozy is comforting, and in terms of garments, cozy items to me are the thick flannel shirts and sweaters that you can wrap up in.
This flannel shirt fits the trifecta perfectly, and it's good that I have quite a few garments that are cozy, soft, and warm or else I'd wear this one nonstop for the next month or so. ;) I mean, this shirt has side pockets...!
