Best Sartorial Purchases of 2017
It's way more fun to talk about my best purchases! Six items of the 44 I purchased in the past year were standouts, and I'd buy any one of them over again. These are items that were not only worn many times because of their practicality but because they made me happy to have in my closet. I hope I get many more days of wear from these items in the years to come!
Check out the previous years' best purchases: 2016, 2015, 2014.
Old Navy Cuffed Boyfriend Denim Shorts {purchased May 2017}
Original post here
I made sure to look through all of my purchases for these recaps and not focus only on the fall/winter items that I'm wearing now. These shorts (similar by J.Crew) got quite a bit of wear this past summer and then again when we were in Mexico last month. Even though the name of them suggests a loose fit, these are obviously not loose... I actually preferred the regular fit; they didn't bag out in the butt after wearing them all day. Denim shorts are a staple in my wardrobe, and these are sure to get plenty of wear in future summers!
Olivia Moon Knit Blazer {purchased June 2017}
Original posts: top left / top right / bottom left / bottom right
When I started my job, I was in need of more layering options. I'm not a big fan of cardigans unless they're on the longer/more casual side, but I do like blazers—especially if they're comfortable and easy to move in but still look put-together. This blazer (similar from JCPenney) was purchased prior to even receiving a job offer but in anticipation of my future employment. I love its simple, classic cut—so much so that I purchased it in another color late last year! I appreciate having this in my closet.
Marc Fisher 'Yommi' Chelsea Bootie {purchased August 2017}

These boots! I call these boots my "boss boots" because they make me feel like I can rule the world when I wear them. ;) I have to admit that while I loved the idea of these boots when I got them, I wasn't sure I'd wear them that much. But I'm happy to share that they were one of my best purchases because I absolutely love wearing them! They seem to go with every outfit, so I have to actively choose other shoes every once in a while. I get lots of compliments on them, too, and that's always fun. :)
Madewell Medium Transport Tote {purchased October 2017}
Original post here
Everyone has a Madewell Transport Tote, and I always wanted one myself but couldn't justify the purchase. That was until I got a job! Thankfully, Madewell also released a line of the slightly smaller medium-sized totes, so when I got a gift card for my birthday at the end of September I knew what I was going to spend it on. I've carried this tote to work nearly every day since I got it! It's the perfect size for my day-to-day necessities and then some.
Everlane Waffle Knit Cashmere Square Crew {purchased October 2017}
Original posts: left / right
When Everlane teased their waffle knit cashmere in early fall, I couldn't wait to get my hands on one of those sweaters! They definitely did not disappoint. This sweater is seriously one of the most luxurious items in my closet. I've worn it 10 times since I purchased it, and I plan to wear it for as long as it lives! It was a splurge, but it was worth the cost for sure.
Grana Cashmere Textured Sweater {purchased November 2017}
Original post here
This sweater (no longer available) is the softest thing I've ever put on my body. It's seriously a dream! I would wear it every day if I didn't have so many other articles of clothing to wear. ;) I love the interesting knit, swingy hem, and balloon sleeves for something different. As much as I avoid buying multiples, I'm kind of hoping Grana brings it back in more colors next fall so I can buy another!

Honorable mentions go to my Abercrombie & Fitch packable down puffer (purchased December 2017 and already worn 14 days; last seen here), Salvatore Ferragamo 'Vara' pumps (purchased April 2017 partially courtesy of Shopbop; last seen here), and Madewell 'Frankie' chelsea boots (purchased February 2017; last seen here).
