Everlane Reviews: Lightweight French Terry Shrunken Hoodie, ReNew Fleece Raglan Sweatshirt, Link-stitch Crewneck Sweater
With the arrival of fall comes a few new additions to my wardrobe from Everlane! Their fall/winter items are some of my favorites—they do sweaters so well. It seems like my wish list never stops growing! I recently purchased a lightweight hoodie (perfect for our recent trip to the tropics), a cozy sweatshirt made from plastic from 32 water bottles (!), and a fall-hued sweater. For sizing reference, I am typically a size XS/0/25 at J.Crew, Madewell, LOFT, Anthropologie, Gap, and Banana Republic. I wear a size 4-6 in H&M and its sister stores (depending on the item). For stores that use juniors sizing, such as Forever 21 and ModCloth, I am usually a size small. My Uniqlo size is either XS or small (again, depending on the item). Everlane includes garment measurements for each item, which I find incredibly helpful when it comes to determining the right size to buy. The Lightweight French Terry Shrunken Hoodie (off-white, size XS)
If you’re looking for the perfect summer-weight cropped sweatshirt, look no further! I knew this would be perfect for our trip to the Cook Islands; I wore it on the travel days (including the long red-eye flights) and as an extra layer when it cooled off in the evening. I purchased size XS because I wanted it to fit slim. These photos were taken after it had been washed and dried; it did shrink a little bit all around after that (I should have known since it’s 100% cotton!). I’m highly tempted to order this same hoodie in a size small (it’s a part of the Choose What You Pay sale) and also order the same style in heather grey! I think a small would shrink to the perfect size after being washed. I should also mention that I ripped a hole in the collar on our trip while trying to get it over my head! The head opening is quite tight, so I’d keep that in mind (ha) when picking a size. It’s also available in pale blue, pale yellow, rose (limited sizes), and washed black.
How I wore it: with a grey suede jacket, in a fall style sudoku
The ReNew Fleece Raglan Sweatshirt (oat, size XS)
I finally ordered myself (and kept) an item from the ReNew line! Everything in the line is produced from recycled polyester, and this sweatshirt is made from the plastic from 32 bottles. The extremely popular oversized sweatshirt released last year sold out of the oat color very quickly, so when they released the raglan sweatshirt this year I pounced on it. I prefer this style over the previous style because the other version featured dropped shoulders. Dropped shoulders + an oversized silhouette + my broad shoulders = football linebacker vibes. Haha! This raglan style works way better with my shoulders. I took far too long deciding between the XS and S and ended up with the XS. I am tempted to order the S just to see because this one gets a little bunchy around the bust and I find myself pulling it down. I just didn’t want it to look too wide on me, which is why I went with the XS. Ah, the sizing struggle. I haven’t gotten a chance to wear it except for a few hours around the house, but it was extremely comfortable and cozy and warm and what fall (and winter) dreams are made of, basically! It’s also available in dark navy, Spanish clay, and pale sage.
How I wore it: with autumn colors, with matching boots, with navy Kitty flats
The Link-Stitch Crewneck Sweater (brass, size XS)
I ordered this sweater as an upgrade/replacement to my old Madewell sweater in a similar style and color. I picked XS because of the slightly oversized/boxy body, but I think the small would have given me the sleeve length I prefer. I really like the thick, substantial knit. The color in person seems more brown-olive-gold as opposed to pumpkin orange-brown, and I’m not sure if I like the color as much on my skin tone (though it does appear to photograph nicely, haha). The elbows get a little baggy with wear, and some reviewers note that it snags easily (I’ve kept my cats away from it so far), but it’s a great option if you’re looking for a textured fall sweater. It also comes in bone and a bright rust.
How I wore it: with a burgundy hat, with velvet boots
