Sugar, Butter, Flour: What to Wear to a Broadway Musical
Last week, Waitress kicked off their second national tour right here in Boise! I have been wanting to see it ever since it opened in NYC; I’m a big fan of Sara Bareilles (would have loved to see her play Jenna!) and was so bummed to hear that it was closing in January. Luckily, the tour made a stop here, and my dad got us tickets for my birthday (they went on sale when we were abroad). I haven’t seen many Broadway productions; I know I’ve also seen War Horse, Legally Blonde, The Book of Mormon (twice, once in Utah…arguably the best place to see it; here’s what I wore to the show in Boise), and The Lion King (in NYC with my mom!). Hamilton is coming here in the next couple of years, and I really hope I’m able to snag tickets!
What to wear to a Broadway musical
This is what I ended up wearing to the show: a cozy pink chenille sweater, ponte pants, a collared shirt for a little modesty, red ankle boots, and a simple clutch. This outfit was a blend of this outfit (worn in February) and this outfit (worn in March)…but I didn’t realize until putting together this post that it’s actually super similar to the outfit I wore to see The Book of Mormon last year! It’s the same collared shirt and ponte pants combo but with a different sweater and pair of boots, haha. I suppose I could call this my unofficial Broadway uniform? ;) I like it because it feels dressy without wearing a dress or skirt, especially when it’s cold and I don’t want to mess with tights.
