Distressed and polished
I realize that I’m super lucky to work in a more casual office (though it seems like more and more offices are trending casual; do you think that’s true?). I don’t wear my shorts or mini skirts/dresses to work, but I can get away with denim…and even slightly distressed denim like this old pair of boyfriend jeans. (At least, no one has told me to stop wearing them, ha!) Now that I think about it, most of my colleagues stick to the traditional dress code (slacks), but there are a fair number of us that wear jeans daily, and most of us are on the younger end of the spectrum. We millennials are changing the workplace! ;)
I have no problem wearing the majority of my closet to work because I don’t interact with clients or the public pretty much ever… I work away in my cube all day and hardly ever see the other people around me! Haha. Still, I try to look presentable at work every day. To keep my distressed denim looking a little more polished for work, I added a simple black tank (love the layered look for added interest), tan cashmere cardigan (a sweater blazer or regular blazer would make it even more polished), and ankle boots to match my Transport tote (I carry it with me every day!).
