Fall 2020 Wardrobe Additions
Another season, another round of comfort-focused wardrobe additions! Will I ever purchase anything not stretchy and/or soft again? Stay tuned…
I’m pleased with how reasonable I’ve been with my shopping lately. I didn’t go overboard with my sartorial purchases this past quarter, and I’m hoping to keep it up going into winter (though these crazy sales are getting the best of me!). I’m really enjoying everything I purchased this season. I’ve had to send back a minimal number of returns; one of the returns was actually an item I purchased a year ago (gulp). I’m expecting next month or so to be full of a lot more purchases if my “what’s on deck for winter” section is any indication! I want all the things, especially if they’re on sale.

Fall 2020 Clothing Budget & Wardrobe Additions
$500 (quarterly budget) = $534 ($313.50 September + $220.50 October + $0 November) - $20 Amex offer - $14 earned from Poshmark sales => $0 left over
Items I added to my wardrobe:
Madewell swingy tee dress (seen here and here | paid $46 | originally $69.50)
This is a great basic tee dress and it’ll be on high rotation next summer if I’m still WFH! It fits well on me in size XS and is not snug in the shoulders.
Madewell petite curvy Roadtripper jeans in Ashmont wash (seen here | paid $49 | originally $75)
These jeans are sooo soft! They definitely don’t feel like regular denim, which is great for me right now. I’m also loving the curvy styles in particular to eliminate waist gap. I went with my pandemic size of 26 in the petite length for this pair but they are stretchy enough that I think size 25 would have worked.
Madewell coin necklace set (seen here and here | paid $31.50 | originally $48)
I’m dabbling in the layered necklace trend with this set. It’s great to have purchased basically three necklaces in one because they can all be worn separately!
Zella restore soft lounge longline bra via Nordstrom (seen here | paid $34 | originally $49)
This was a Nordstrom Anniversary Sale purchase, and it was a good one! The bra is comfortable (and cute) enough to wear on its own. I wore it hiking in the Grand Tetons! It’s not supportive enough for any substantial workout but it’s great for light yoga and lounging. I took a size XS.
Zella restore soft pocket lounge leggings via Nordstrom (seen here | paid $45.50 | originally $68)
Another NAS purchase! I had to order the matching leggings, of course. These are AMAZING—highly recommend. They’re stretchy and not restricting at all in the midsection and also keep their shape. I took an XS.
Zella high waist studio lite pocket 7/8 leggings via Nordstrom (seen here | paid $45.50 | originally $68)
This was a last-minute NAS purchase, and they’re now my new favorite (regular) Zella leggings. These leggings have a higher rise than the live in leggings, which I prefer—and they’re not too tight around the waist. They just feel better overall. Love ‘em! I took size XS.
Thread & Supply wubby fleece pullover via Nordstrom (seen here | paid $48.50 | originally $78)
What do ya know, another NAS purchase. I actually feel like my NAS purchases were good this year! I love my wubby from years past so much that I ordered another color. However, I do not plan on dry cleaning this one because the last one lost so much of its softness after that. Really hoping I don’t get it dirty! Size XS is perfect and not too oversized.
BP traveling stitch sweater via Nordstrom (seen here | paid $31 | originally $59)
A cute sweater on sale is basically my love language. This one got good reviews, so I took a chance on it and it’s actually quite nice! I’m still getting used to the mockneck style on me and my lack of neck. I’m a big fan of the cropped shape and billowy sleeves. The size XS fits me well, too.
Blondo Sydney waterproof bootie via Nordstrom (seen here | paid $71.50 | originally $150)
I’ve heard such good things about Blondo boots, so I ordered a pair when there was a sale-on-sale. I love them! They really are waterproof, and the boots themselves are comfortable. I sized up to a 7.5, and they fit well with thin no-show socks.
Everlane ReNew teddy bomber (sold out; check for returns | seen here and here | paid $82.50)
This will be one of the coziest bomber jackets I ever own! The fit is great in a size small; it’s roomy enough for layering. Like my other ReNew fleece items, cat hair will likely become embedded in it and never come out. Lol.
Romy Studio diamond drop earrings in fog (sold out | paid $35.50)
The Romy Studio earring collections go FAST, so I was thrilled to snag myself a pair in the fall drop! The pair I got is bigger than I was expecting; they’re a great statement set. The holiday collection is dropping soon!
Grana Peruvian pima cotton modal tank (via Poshmark; no longer available | $13.50 | retailed for $19)
Just a simple tank that’s great for layering! I love my other two Grana tanks, so adding this one to the collection was a no-brainer. The spice color is perfect for fall!
Items I tried and returned:
I love the print of this dress, but I sent it back after a couple of reviews came in saying it shrunk in the wash. It fit on the short side already on me, so I didn’t want to risk it shrinking more.
Other than real sweater dresses, this is the perfect WFH dress made of cozy fleece! But, I ordered it before realizing that the camel color likely wouldn’t look that good on my skin tone, and…it doesn’t. I also got a size small and it fits a little bit too loose, so unfortunately it’s going back.
Wait, what? I ordered these boots last fall! Unfortunately, they were not comfortable on my feet and I could not wear them even around my house to break them in. Fortunately, Nisolo’s customer service is amazing and they let me return them a year later for credit. The brandy color was absolutely gorgeous so I was sad to see them go, but I’m excited to find something new that works better for me. Still deciding on what to buy next!
Items I ordered and never received (order cancelled):
These were backordered when I bought them as part of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, and surprise, surprise, the order was cancelled. Then shortly after the sale ended (and prior to the backorder ship date I was originally given), they were magically restocked! Funny how that works, lol.
I ordered this wubby during their Labor Day sale, and it was sadly cancelled. I was so looking forward to it, too! I was planning to bring it with me to Grand Teton and Yellowstone.
What’s on deck for winter:
I reordered the Russo dress when I saw it was released in a gorgeous holiday red! This time I went with size XS. Hopefully this one works better for me.
Everlane Belgian waffle henley in ReCashmere (sold out; check for returns)
I had a coupon and some credit to spend, so I purchased this sweater in the heathered clay color, size XS. I actually just received it in the mail but I had already made my collage, so you’ll see it again next time. It’s beautiful in person—and SO soft (made from 100% recycled cashmere)! I’m sad it sold out so quickly; everyone else knew how amazing it would be.
I purchased these slippers in black along with the sweater. They’re lined with plush fleece. My preliminary thoughts after wearing them for a little bit: They made my feet sweat a little but my feet were also still cold? Idk, might just be a me thing LOL. I run cold! The tops of the slippers may be uncomfortable if you have high arches. And definitely size up if you are in between sizes; I purchased my true size 7 and my heels hit the edge of the slippers.
I made my first Naadam purchase thanks to their amazing Cyber Monday sale (up to 75% off, but items are final sale). I picked this beanie in merlot because it looked so warm and cozy.
Continuing the cozy theme with…a matching loungewear set! Their fleece is blended with cashmere which sounds so lovely. I’ve had my eye on this sweatshirt and the matching sweatpant in heather burgundy for a couple of months now. Really looking forward to receiving them! I ordered size small.
This is the sweatpant that matches the cropped fleece sweatshirt. I ordered size small.
I feel ridiculous for ordering two of these… but in a good way. Lol! I wouldn’t have done it if they weren’t on sale. I went with the solid colored sweater in merlot because the patterns offered were catered to dogs (with bones and such). I love the idea of the dark pine color but I would have liked it more if it looked more green and not so dark! I measured my cats’ girths and ended up going with size small; fingers crossed they fit!
