In My Cart: Madewell Spring Things on Sale

Tuesday, March 17th is the last day to get 25% off your purchase at Madewell! (Update: Looks like the sale is continuing through the 18th!) Even though most denim and all bags, cashmere, and third-party-branded merchandise are excluded, there are still a lot of shiny new things that caught my eye in their new arrivals section…plus some things I love that have returned season after season. I love these promos that are good on new full-priced items because it’s fun to buy seasonally! And if you missed this sale or you’re not quite in the mood to shop, there will always be another sale! The next one might even be better, which would be my luck. 😉

Funnily enough, I put together the same type of post a year ago. I used to think that Madewell wan’t my go-to retailer for spring and summer items because I normally gravitated towards their fall releases (particularly the sweaters and denim), but here’s further proof that I love them year-round! All of the items in the collage are things I’ve seriously considered buying. I won’t end up with everything (last year, I ended up with five of the ten items I included on my collage) but I like making these as a way to organize my thoughts when shopping—and I can refer back to them later if necessary.

I ordered two items in the sale and may end up ordering more but…we’ll see. I’m trying to minimize the possibility of returns right now (especially since Madewell stores are closed for at least a couple of weeks). I picked up the straight leg jeans because it was one of the only pairs included in the sale, and it’s a silhouette I’ve been wanting to try. I have tried their “perfect vintage jean” in two washes with no success, so figures crossed this pair works! I’m extremely picky about denim color and fit lately (fit is a huge focus of my wardrobe plan for 2020). In hindsight, I probably shouldn’t have ordered jeans that I’m unsure about but I don’t see them for 25% off full price very often.

I also ordered the one that got away from me last year—the button-front cardigan! I was planning to purchase it last year when it was released in early summer, but it sold out so quickly when there was a different 25% off sale…and I made the mistake of not ordering it and instead hoping to catch it on sale later that summer. It never came back in stock, so I swooped it up when I saw that it returned this year! It’s now also offered in gorgeous navy and gold colors which made my decision a little more difficult, but I ended up with the original ivory.

I want a pair of light wash denim shorts, so I’m trying to decide between these (which have a high rise and slightly longer inseam) and these (which are a lighter wash but have a mid rise). The pintuck dress is also something that caught my eye even though it’d be too short to wear to work. I love the color! And, of course, I’ll likely end up with the cotton-linen baseball cap at some point; I like that it’s more of a natural color as opposed to stark white. You know I have a soft spot for simple, dainty earrings such as these hoops and studs. The spotted loafer is the perfect neutral to dip my toes in the animal-print trend.

I’m a bad blogger and don’t peruse retailers’ websites nearly as much as other bloggers so I often miss good things and kick myself after the fact, haha!
