Boyfriend Jeans and Dad Sneakers
The patriarchy is strong with this outfit. š(Anyone else wonder how āboyfriend jeansā and ādad sneakersā got their names? I meanā¦I suppose itās pretty obvious, but sometimes I wonder if they would have been named differently had the trends made an initial appearance in 2020.) I digress. You know I love a good pair of boyfriend jeans. The natural next step was to add their shoe counterpartādad sneakersāto the mix!
After lots of internal debate, I selected the Scenic Vapor sneakers as my second pair of shoes to style from Earthās spring/summer 2020 collection. After the snakeskin-print mules that were featured in the previous post, these sneakers were the next pair out of the collection to catch my eye. I wasnāt totally sold on them at first because I was worried I wouldnāt wear them enough. They came across as more utilitarian than fun or āfashionableā and I thought about picking a pair of sandals instead. Iām thrilled that I stuck with my first choice and got these sneakers!
The Scenic Vapor sneakers had absolutely zero break-in time; they were comfortable immediately out of the box. (For reference, I am wearing my usual size 7 with thin no-show socks.) These sneakers were granted the American Podiatric Medical Associationās Seal of Acceptance because they promote good foot healthāand I can tell how much my feet like them every time I wear them. The best part is that even though theyāre good for my feet, they still feature a slimming silhouette, which I love because I always feel self conscious if my shoes make my feet appear wider than they are! These sneakers are currently on sale and also come in black, cream pink, and a soft light green called agate green.
My inspiration for this outfit came from Andrea of Seasons and Salt. She makes dad sneakers look so cool! In my case, I love the juxtaposition of the structured topcoat with the casual combination of the baseball cap, sweatshirt, loose-fitting denim, and dad sneakers. The outfit felt incomplete without a purposeful āthird pieceā or extra layer in this case, and it was too cold to wear my leather or suede jacket, so I opted for the camel coat. I love how this turned out, and I actually wore almost the exact same outfit on a gymnastics meet dayāI just swapped the white sweatshirt for my blue sweater and the olive hat with my blue gymnastics hat! (RIP, college gymnastics season.)
I am truly shocked by how much I adore these sneakers, and I know I shouldnāt be because theyāre made by Earth. I really hope Iām able to keep them white!
