Link Love, vol. 25
Happy Cyber Monday and first day of Hanukkah! How was your holiday weekend? Did you shop ‘til you dropped, or did you take it easy? As I predicted, I felt totally overwhelmed with all the sale emails flooding my inbox on Black Friday and I didn’t even go through most of them, so I’m sure I missed out on some good deals on things I will probably end up purchasing as gifts in the next couple of weeks lol. STORY OF MY LIFE. I shopped too much for myself, which is another chapter in the story of my life. At least we have one or two more days of deals (with likely even more to come)?
Priya recently shot a film she wrote herself: Tinderella!!! How amazing is that?! She also stars in the film as the main character. (You may remember her from the Working Woman Style series. Read her post if you haven’t already and check out her blog!) Also, she shared a video of her makeup look for the role (plus more about the film!) and it is 🔥, as always.
Whew, Krystal’s essay about the frustrations around Instagram limiting content from being seen by your followers (and the effect creating on Instagram can have on your personal boundaries) was extremely relatable to me.
There’s a whole group of “lefties” that won’t get vaccinated against COVID but that won’t tell you they aren’t vaccinated (via The Cut). It’s one thing to refuse the vaccine (that has been tested and is quite safe—I just got my booster); it’s quite another to pretend like everything is fine and to go about your life without informing those around you that you aren’t vaccinated so they are unable to make their own decision on whether or not to be around you. Or worse yet, to LIE about being vaccinated.
I loved reading this marriage advice—especially the comments (via Cup of Jo)! There are so many great gems. This post is definitely worth bookmarking, even if you’re not married (or in a long-term relationship) right now.
Rebecca shared her recent academic conference packing list (for Seattle in the fall!) and I LOVED her comments about not forgetting to pack loungewear and to play hooky for an afternoon or full day!!! Screaming these from the rooftop forever! I do not regret the afternoons I took off to explore the city or go shopping or sit in my hotel room away from everyone else lol.
Now that the holiday season is in full swing, I figured it’s a good time to reshare my nutcracker collection that I’ve been building since I was a kid! (Just added a new one this past weekend.) Also, my easy 3-part holiday outfit formula hasn’t let me down yet.
If you are in need of a gift for someone going through a tough time but aren’t sure what to get, check out Spoonful of Comfort’s selection of care packages featuring homemade soups and other goodies (you can also add on things like blankets).
A few Cyber Monday sale picks: the Bliss plush throw blanket by Nordstrom (now 24% off; my favorite—makes such a great gift), the track wide-leg pant by Everlane (50% off through tonight; these can probably pass as real pants!!!), my favorite hair conditioning mask by Briogeo (25% off through tonight), the ribbed pom-pom beanie by J.Crew (now almost 60% off through tonight), and the heeled chelsea boot by Nisolo (on sale + extra 25% off; I am SO VERY tempted by the bone colorway).
