Fall 2021 Wardrobe Additions
Between my birthday and all of the early holiday sales, fall is always a spendy quarter for me. But! I actually did a lot better job with my budget this quarter compared to summer and spring, mostly thanks to a bump in Poshmark sales. (Listing things that end up being in high demand AND selling a few items I’ve had listed for ages definitely helps!)
My clothing budget hasn’t increased since I started my job over 4 years ago, and I’m actually thinking about bumping it up a little bit next year to account for the purchase of higher quality items and more items from smaller brands. I don’t want to go overboard and double it or anything, but I just want more wiggle room to support the brands I love! Of course, I’ll still be buying as many things at a discount as possible…I can never resist a good deal!
Here’s everything I added to my wardrobe this past fall!

Fall 2021 Clothing Budget & Wardrobe Additions
$500 (quarterly budget) => $870 ($403 September + $247 October + $220 November) - $218 earned from Poshmark sales = $652 => $152 overspent
Items I added to my wardrobe:
ABLE Mae drapey tees in black, white, and cherry mahogany (white seen here | paid $30 each | originally $40 each)
I’ve heard only great things about this tee, so I ordered it in three colors: black, white, and cherry mahogany. It fits exactly how I like in size XS: drapey (as the name suggests) and loose without being too oversized. The white is more of a creamy off-white and not pure white.
Everlane curvy authentic stretch high-rise skinny jean (seen here and here | paid $53 | originally $78)
I was able to grab a size 27 in the vintage blue wash after originally ordering a size 26, and I love ‘em so much! The wash is a beautiful light blue wash that I’ll wear year-round.
Everlane pima micro-rib tank tops in white and black (white seen here | paid $27 for white and $32 for black | originally $30 each)
I added these on a couple of orders to get free shipping. They’re excellent basic tanks and make great layering options under cardigans and sweaters. I like the fit of size small.
Everlane track wide-leg pant (paid $57.50 | originally $68)
When I spotted this pant on the website, I wondered if it could pass for workwear…and I honestly think it could (though maybe in the black color moreso than the grey?). I’m not sure I am bold enough to try but maybe I’ll go for it on a day a lot of people won’t be in the office ha! I ordered it in size small.
J.Crew quilted puffer lady jacket with PrimaLoft (seen here | paid $114 | originally $168)
I had a bit of a wardrobe gap to fill: I was looking for a warm and lightweight jacket for fall, since I’m always cold but don’t like wearing my puffers when it’s really not that cold out! This jacket is a great option. I ordered it in size 2 and it allows for some layering.
Madewell citywalk lugsole lace-up boot in leather (seen here and here | paid $141 | originally $198)
Madewell makes absolutely gorgeous shoes, and I was thrilled to spot these earlier this fall in a beautiful burgundy color. They required no break-in time for me. I took my usual size 7 but would have preferred sizing up to 7.5 for wearing with thicker socks.
Madewell corduroy Yorkway shirt-jacket (seen here | paid $82.50 | originally $88)
I finally tried out the shirt-jacket (or “shacket”) trend, too. The rusted burgundy color was one I couldn’t pass up. I opted for a size small for layering and it’s great!
MATE the Label organic thermal boxy crop top (seen here and here | paid $48 | originally $98)
I love this top but would probably not pay full price for it unless I made a higher salary LOL. It is really nice and I’ve been wearing it a lot. I love the slight crop, and I’m not upset about the mockneck style. The ivory isn’t see through from what I can tell. I took a size XS.
Quince $50 cashmere sweater (review here | paid $40 | originally $50)
Couldn’t resist trying out a cashmere sweater for only $50! I’m quite impressed with this option from Quince, though it is long on me. I took a size small and it fits slightly loose. The navy color is gorgeous!
Quince luxe baby cashmere sweater (review here | paid $89 | originally $99)
I also couldn’t resist Quince’s more expensive baby cashmere. This sweater is absolutely gorgeous! I love the burgundy. It fits slimmer than the $50 sweater, and I took size small.
Two Days Off Jordan dress in jersey (seen here | paid $95 | originally $120)
I am in LOVE with this dress!!! It was well worth the money for sure. I was worried about ordering a size small because I read the measurements and thought it’d be too big (and XS was out of stock in black), but it’s perfect. Truly. And such a fabulous travel companion!
Items not included in clothing budget:
Everlane v-neck one-piece swimsuit in black and blue dusk (paid $58.50 and $69 | originally $65 each)
I purchased this suit on a whim in size small for my trip to Mexico, and it fit perfectly!!! I loved it so much that I ordered a second color and brought them both with me (and wore them both!). I haven’t loved a one-piece like this in a long time.
Items I tried and returned:
I so wanted to love these ponte pants, but they were too tight in size small and the medium is not currently available. Looking forward to trying them again once they’re back in stock!
I also ordered these joggers in size small and they fit much more snug than my comparable joggers by Vuori and Zella, so I’d like to try these in a medium, too. I only wish they had colors other than grey and navy because I already own joggers in those colors!
I don’t know why I keep trying the perfect vintage jeans. I guess it’s because everyone else raves about them, but I’ve not once had a pair that worked on me. They’re either too big or too small, and these I ordered in 26 and they were way too big. I don’t understand anything.
I was so looking forward to these! Black jeans in the Instacozy version would’ve been perfect for fall and winter. Unfortunately they were far too tight in size 26 petite, and the rise felt too low.
I loved this wash so much, but they were too tight in size 26 petite. Have I mentioned how much I love jeans shopping?
I ordered these trousers in antique gold because they looked perfect for my beach vacation, but when they arrived…I was absolutely baffled by them! The color in person is NOTHING like it shows in the stock photos. In person it was more like a muted yellow that looked terrible on my skin tone. Also, I just now realized that they were probably the “seed khaki” color mis-marked, which makes way more sense.
I ordered this tee in ice blue, size small. I really wanted to like this and was so close to keeping it, but the more I looked at the the more I didn’t think I’d wear it that often. It also is quite a snug fit. I’m considering trying it in another color.
What’s on deck for winter:
Well, technically I have already decided to keep these jeans, but I forgot to include them in the collage so I’ll do that next time! Ha. I opted for size 26 petite and these fit the best out of all the pairs I tried. I love the button fly!
I own this beanie in two colors already and bought two more! I love that they go with everything, and I wear them almost daily in the winter.
