Transition your Wardrobe for Grad School: A (FREE!) Guide
Oh heyyy! You may or may not have noticed that I took last week off from posting new blog content because I wanted to buckle down and finish my first ever freebie for y’all. I asked you what your wardrobe struggles were on Instagram, then turned that feedback into a guide! I learned a new program and poured multiple hours into this guide I created, and I really hope you find it helpful!
I specifically geared this guide towards those of you starting graduate school, but this guide can easily be applied to those of you preparing to exit grad school and join the “real world” or those of you going through any other major life transition!
How to Transition your Wardrobe for Grad School
I previously wrote a post about how to overhaul your wardrobe for grad school (which is still one of my more popular posts on Pinterest), and this guide builds off of what I wrote about in that post! This is something I wish I had when I had started grad school. I had ZERO style when I started grad school and only figured out what I liked to wear thanks to discovering style blogs and documenting my own style journey with this blog!
You start by filling out a closet inventory (very important!!!) and then determining how your lifestyle changes. (Maybe you’ll need more “nice pant” options, or more blazers/third pieces, or maybe you’ll be remote and looking for more webinar-ready tops.) I wrote a bunch of prompts to get you thinking about all of this and more!
Once you have your complete closet inventory and you figured out how exactly your lifestyle will change, it’s time to determine your wardrobe gaps and plan for any new purchases!
Of course, you absolutely do not need to add anything new to your wardrobe if you don’t want to. But, this guide will help you make a plan so that you don’t bust your budget and/or feel like you need to buy a bunch of new things at once, especially on a meager grad student budget.
These concepts are general enough that the guide can be applied to any major life transition, including starting your career after finishing grad school, a career change, shift to WFH, heading back to school after working for an extended period, and more!
The freebie is a guided workbook/interactive PDF, so you can fill it out entirely electronically (or print it out if you’d rather put a pen to paper!). I also included some grad school outfit inspiration from my own grad school career plus a few recommendations on where to shop if you’re looking to add anything new to your wardrobe.
