Link Love, vol. 24
Happy Friday before a long weekend! I’m sooo ready for an extra day off of work so I can spend more time at home with my cats. LOL. That’s really all I wanna do these days. We don’t have any plans for the 4th, and I’m kinda hoping it stays that way. I’ve never been a huge fan of fireworks, and to be honest there shouldn’t be any fireworks with how dry and hot it is here.
Quick link love post today as I couldn’t find the motivation to put together anything more in depth. Hope you enjoy the holiday! Be safe!
As you probably know, the Pacific Northwest has been in the throes of an extensive high pressure ridge that has produced an unprecedented heatwave. Lytton, British Columbia, recorded Canada’s newest record high temperature of 121.3°F (49.6°C). (For context, the record high temperature in Las Vegas, Nevada, is 117°F.) Sadly, a wildfire tore through the town of Lytton, burning 90% of it (via BBC). Just awful.
Have you ever taken the Wholehearted Inventory by Brene Brown? Check it out and let me know what your results are in the comments! Personally, I’m doing pretty well at not caring what other people think and being my authentic self, but anxiety is definitely more of a lifestyle than calm and stillness.
Molly, who you may remember from the Working Woman Style series, wrote more about the evolution of her work style. I also loved her reminder to wear the fancy dress and make your own special occasion!
Sunday is the 4th of July! Not sure what to wear yet? Here are 10 4th of July outfit ideas featuring items that you probably already have in your closet.
Last weekend was the U.S. Olympic Gymnastics Team Trials!!! I was stressed out all weekend hoping that the gymnasts would compete at their best, but knowing there would only be 4 named to the team (3 after Simone, and really we knew the top 3 before going into trials) and 1 additional individual made it exciting and anxiety-inducing! I’m so thrilled that MyKayla Skinner, who competed for Utah Gymnastics for three seasons, FINALLY secured her spot on the Olympic team (via PopSugar)!
Speaking of college gymnastics, NCAA changed their rules regarding name, image, and likeness (NIL). Now, collegiate athletes can book social media sponsorships, sell merchandise, etc. and it won’t affect their amateur status. One of the athletes poised to make the most ($1+ million) from this rule change is an LSU gymnast (via Action Network)!
When Taylor Swift shared Griff in her IG stories recently, I was intrigued and listened to her music. I’m now obsessed with her entire EP!!!
