Summer to Fall Transitional Footwear
This is it for summer outfits…and I couldn’t let summer go by without wearing my Nisolo all-day open toe clogs! I hadn’t worn them out of the house yet, mostly because whenever I thought about wearing them, they didn’t quite go with the rest of the outfit I had in mind. I was determined to wear them at least once before fall was here for good. Luckily, it seems like I’ll have at least a few more days—and maybe more if we get that fall heat wave that tends to appear at some point in October!
In a surprising turn of events (not—ha!), I paired my clogs with a similarly-hued cropped sweatshirt. I’m really loving how it all looks with the striped midi skirt, especially because I love pairing long-sleeved tops with skirts and shorts! There’s only a limited window of time I can wear outfits like these as summer turns into fall. These shoes got me thinking about the footwear I reach for as we head into the new season. Let’s chat about summer to fall transitional footwear!
Summer to Fall Transitional Footwear
In the summer, I almost exclusively reach for sandals. I mean—I have to wear sandals when it’s warm out! That’s the one chance I get to wear them. I also don’t like my feet to overheat. Every once in a while, though, I’ll wear a pair of flats or sneakers (depending on the day’s activities/weather). Once the temperatures start dropping as fall approaches, I start to reach for my other pairs of shoes. These clogs could be considered sandals since they’re open toe and look a hell of a lot like sandals, but I think clogs in general work well as transitional footwear.
Transitional footwear I reach for include ballet flats, mules, loafers, sneakers, and ankle boots. I don’t wear my flats much during the cooler months, so I try to wear those as much as possible before it gets too cold and I’m in boots 24/7. I’ve really pared down my shoe collection; I have a lot of sandals and a lot of boots and not that many other styles simply because I don’t get the opportunities to wear them as often.
What are your go-to shoes for the summer to fall transition period? How does your footwear in the fall differ than summer (and winter)?
NISOLO ALL-DAY OPEN TOE CLOG
I purchased these clogs a couple of months ago along with the go-to flatform sandal using some Nisolo credit I had banked from a return. As it turns out, I’m a sucker for a good pair of pink shoes! And as a short person, I love shoes that give me extra height without being uncomfortable. These clogs feature memory foam insoles, adjustable straps, and a 3” heel with comfortable platform. In addition to desert rose (the color I own), they come in black, bone, and sky grey!
Like I experienced with the go-to flatform sandal, the toe strap is much roomier than it needs to be on my foot, and the ankle strap is more snug. Some of the reviewers mentioned the straps separating from the sole, but luckily I haven’t had that issue (hopefully it won’t happen!).
