Currently: Sick for the First Time in Years | July 2022

I’ve had a cold since the beginning of LAST week, and it’s my first time being sick since at least 2019…possibly earlier. I don’t remember colds lasting this long?! Ugh. Anyway, I’m just glad it’s not COVID… At least, I’m 90% sure it’s not COVID (I took two at-home tests three days apart and both were negative). My symptoms align with a mild cold more than they do with COVID. Plus, somehow Korri has been fine this whole time, lol. The worst part has been the coughing fits that keep me up at night! (At least those seem to be over?! Knock on wood…)

Besides that, the whole SCOTUS-ending-Roe thing has made me decidedly unpatriotic this year. Much like how I felt the past few years about the holiday, I couldn’t bring myself to care one lick about the 4th. Luckily being sick gave me an excuse to do nothing, and my family didn’t have plans because my parents were out of town and my brothers were off doing their own thing. Korri grilled burgers, and I brought Rosie out to sit with us in her harness and leash. She did NOT enjoy that as much as I hoped she would, haha. Oh, and of course, someone started a wildfire south of town. Such is the 4th in Idaho…

Enjoying:

FOUR different books at the moment! I’m listening to my first ever book on audio, Woman Last Seen in Her Thirties, because I recently realized that I got the audiobook when I borrowed it via Prime! It’s nice to “read” while doing chores or working; it makes me feel extra productive! I did have to re-read a chapter because I was falling asleep listening to it the other day, haha. I’m planning for a new Reading Lately post to go up later this month.

Having:

A hard time avoiding all of the sales that have been happening as of late. Everlane got me (I re-ordered my favorite sandals in black plus another baseball cap) as well as Summersalt (I love the olive version of their signature one-piece, and I also adore this coverup)! I’m going to Mexico next year so I just figured I’d get a head start on shopping. 😆 Oh, and I did add some things to my Nordstrom wish list in anticipation of the big Anniversary Sale. We’ll see how much I buy/if anything is left by the time I can shop lol.

Hoping:

More than anything that every Democrat (and sane Republican) in the country votes in November. I don’t know how much more I can take. It makes me sick thinking about how many women will die needlessly. EVERYONE BENEFITS FROM WOMEN HAVING THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE WHAT TO DO WITH HER BODY AND LIFE!!! And every *human* deserves BODILY AUTONOMY!!! *CORPSES* and *GUNS* have more rights than us birthing people!

Picking:

Out undies, worn-out socks, and other undergarments that need to be tossed…but that will be sent to Knickey instead! Have you heard about their recycling program? I LOVE that they take all kinds of undergarments (including men’s), and they keep them out of the landfill! My underwear drawer is in dire need of an overhaul; would definitely love to hear where you buy your favorite undies!

Using:

A couple of hours of comp time to take off early for Korri’s birthday today! I believe we are destined for happy hour at a patio downtown. We rarely make it out to happy hours (at least those that happen in the late afternoon) because of my work schedule so this should be fun!
