My 2024 Closet Inventory + Style Stats
Every year, I take a snapshot of my closet to see where I’m at in terms of what I own. I find it very enlightening to annually review where my closet is at. Taking an inventory of your wardrobe ensures that you know exactly what’s in your closet, and it’ll help you be more intentional when adding new pieces and maybe even help you spot purchasing trends and wardrobe holes. I use Stylebook to inventory my closet and track what I wear every day.
If you’re not sure how to complete a closet inventory, I shared an easy step-by-step guide on how to inventory your closet. I highly recommend reading that post! Below, I shared the exact number of items that are currently in my closet as well as some fun Stylebook style stats. Since I’ve been tracking my closet for 10 years, I also thought it’d be fun to share a graph to illustrate how my closet has changed over the years!

LOUNGEWEAR & ACTIVEWEAR: 20 (22)
Lounge shorts/pants: 14 (17)
Bike shorts and leggings: 6 (5)
I’m currently at 215 items, 21 fewer than my 2023 inventory (235 when counting loungewear and activewear). This count doesn't include some utilitarian coats and shoes, sleepwear, most workout clothes, and anything I currently have listed on Poshmark (or that will be listed soon). It also doesn’t include jewelry, bags, and other accessories because I don’t spend a lot in those categories. Right now, I have 12 (12) pairs of earrings, 4 (4) necklaces, 7 (8) scarves, 18 (17) hats, and 19 (16) bags. The numbers in parentheses were from my 2023 inventory; three categories changed minimally.
Compared to the previous inventory, I decreased my number of tops (mainly tees and sweaters) and bottoms (skirts and pants) significantly more than other categories. My outerwear and activewear/loungewear numbers decreased only slightly. Changing sizes has led to me getting rid of a lot of things that don’t fit around my waist anymore! Also, my number of dresses continues to dwindle a bit.
Because I’ve been sharing my closet inventory ever since I started blogging, I put all the numbers together in the graph below so you can see how my wardrobe has changed over the years! You can really see how much my number of dresses has decreased and how much my number of tops and shoes increased. Also, 2022 was the largest my closet has been so far (even when you don’t count loungewear and activewear).
Stylebook Style Stats
As always, I love looking at my style stats from the Stylebook closet app! I took screenshots of what I’ve worn the most over the past year (left/first image below) and the items with the best cost per wear (CPW) over the past year (right/second image below). Of note, one new (2023) addition to my wardrobe made the list of most worn items: the Madewell perfect vintage wide leg jeans (last row; seen here and purchased in spring 2023).
I’m not surprised by the items that made my most worn list. It tends to be the types of items you’d expect someone to wear multiple times over the course of a year: accessories (bags, hats), bottoms (joggers, sweats, jeans), sneakers, tops that are easily layered, and a trusty puffer coat.
I also like looking at the items with the best CPW over the past year. This stat doesn’t take into consideration every item I own, because once an item hits $1 CPW over all time, I remove the price so it no longer appears in this list (and I make a note on the item with how much it cost; once I decide to part with an item, I recalculate the CPW before removing it again and sticking it in the notes).
I like watching the CPW drop to $1 since that's always my target when I buy a new item, and removing the prices of the items with extremely low CPWs makes it easier for me to see at a glance which items are close to hitting that $1 mark. I think for this stat, the CPW over all time is more interesting than over a shorter range of time; however, it’s nice to see some 2023 wardrobe additions make this list (Madewell tank, top row; corduroy baseball cap, third row; and white Birkenstock sandals, last row).
