Summer 2024 Wardrobe Additions

All of the clothes I purchased this past summer were part of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I have no idea how that happened! I ordered the most number of items and spent the most I ever have (I refuse to add up the total, which includes a bunch of other things like undies and beauty products). I ended up liking a lot more items than I thought I would, and I also returned quite a bit.

Below, I rounded up everything I added to my wardrobe this past summer! All of my 2024 clothing purchases are being added to this Pinterest board. I also shared the items I tried and returned and what’s coming up for fall!

Summer 2024 Clothing Budget & Wardrobe Additions

$600 (quarterly budget) = $600 - $456.50 ($0 June + $274 July + $182.50 August) => $143.50 left over

Items I added to my wardrobe:

I’ve had my eyes on Good American jeans for a few months now and decided to take the plunge on their wide leg jeans! I ordered the raw hem wide leg jeans (in blue) first and loved them so much that I decided to order the washed black pair, too. These fit smaller than the other jeans. I ordered a size 8 but need a 10, and I haven’t done the exchange with Nordstrom yet (it sounds like a pain which is why I’ve been putting it off lol… I’m sure it’s easier than I think).

I ordered the last pair of jeans available in my size, and by some miracle, they weren’t oversold (along with every single other item I ordered; this might be the first time ever all my Nordstrom sale purchases shipped!). These fit me perfectly in size 8. The stretch is GREAT; they hug my hips and waist without digging in. I wish the side seams were straight down the sides but that’s my only qualm.

I really felt like a pair of white boots would bring joy to my closet…so I bought a pair of white boots! These boots get rave reviews for how inexpensive they are. I’m a little scared to wear them out but I’m gonna do it (thank goodness they’re water resistant)! These run TTS.

I’ve purchased Ugg slippers in past sales, so I decided to purchase more! I wear my slippers into the ground. I like that these slippers are slides so your toes can air out a bit, which makes them perfect for the warm season. They do have a platform on them that I wasn’t expecting to feel so tall (and need to walk carefully or else I risk rolling my ankles, ha). These run TTS.

I love the look of this crop tank (basically a longline sports bra), which looked similar in color to another Zella set I purchased a couple of years ago. I’ve already worn it to barre workouts! I took size small.

I ordered this sports bra in two colors and decided to return the other color (more on that below). I thought I would return this one too because I’m not in love with the removable cups (WHY?!)… but I haven’t gotten around to returning it, so I’m going to try it again. I purchased size small.

Disclaimer: I haven’t actually decided yet if I’m going to keep these, but I’ve been too lazy to return them so maybe they will be sticking around. Zella leggings have been a consistent NAS purchase of mine. I’ve tried a few different Zella styles over the years (read my giant list of Zella reviews), and these are the first “studio luxe” leggings I own (the older “studio lite” version was a favorite of mine).

The 7/8 length is perfect on me, and I purchased these in medium. When I first tried them on, they felt too tight, and then they felt fine the second time… so, maybe I just need to save them for days when I’m not bloated?

I originally purchased these shorts in a different color but snatched up the black when they came back in stock! Bike shorts are my go-to for barre class when it’s hot out. I took size medium.

Items I tried and returned:

I’ve never paid this much for a pair of jeans before, but I read such good reviews that I had to try them when they popped back in stock. My wallet is glad they didn’t end up fitting me, ha! They were SO soft but just did not work for my body at all; they were simultaneously too tight in the hips and too loose in the waist. Plus, the “high” waist wasn’t as high as I like. I tried size 27.

I keep looking at my boots and wishing I had more options that worked in the rain, so I ordered a couple of new pairs of Blondo boots to try. I ordered these in black suede, size 7; the reviews said they ran big (or TTS), so I went with my true size. The reviewers were wrong! I’m usually a 7.5 in Blondo and should have gone with that. My true size was too tight with socks. I’m watching for these to go on deeper sale this fall.

I was drawn to the cognac brown color of these boots. These I did order in my usual Blondo size, 7.5, and they fit! However, I ended up returning them because the top of the slim shaft dug into my legs when I walked and it didn’t feel like they were going to loosen up at all. The leather is pretty stiff.

I love my old Zella Restore joggers, so I thought I’d try another style… These were way too big in size medium, but I did not exchange them for a smaller size because the fabric was a bit of a sensory nightmare for me. It felt sort of like nylon almost, and it did not feel good over unshaven legs, ha.

Love the top but did not like this color on me. “Tan thread” is a tan color blended with a grey or purple.

I wasn’t a huge fan of this color on me, so I ended up returning it.

These bike shorts matched the longline bra in the same color. I almost kept them but just wasn’t in love with the color as much as I had hoped!

What’s on deck for fall:

  • Corduroy pants

I haven’t owned corduroy pants in a while, and I’m starting to feel that itch again! I’d love to find a pair of stretchy wide leg corduroy pants.

  • Thick, soft, cozy sweaters

I just want to wrap myself in allllll the cozy sweaters, and I need them to be soft and thick. I’m eyeing the new additions at Quince.
