A winter wonderland
Before ringing in the new year, Chris, his family, their dogs, and I went for a walk through the woods. It was truly a winter wonderland with the freshly fallen snow and crisp air. I didn't pack my snow boots for the trip because it wasn't supposed to snow the entire time we were there, but I did bring along my Hunter boots to trudge through slush in. Turns out, they work perfectly as snow boots, too! I don't have liners for them, but I was surprised at how warm my feet were just wearing wool socks. (SmartWool for the win, again!)
I also opted not to wear a coat for the outing even though the temperature stayed below 40° during the day and the sun only came out once or twice. Instead, I layered with a flannel shirt, sweatshirt, and puffer vest. That plus the walk itself kept me plenty toasty without overheating. Also, I adore these gloves! To be honest, I rarely wear gloves...but it's mostly because I didn't have a good pair that could be used with my phone. Every finger on these gloves from The North Face has the technology to be used with touch screens, so it was a no-brainer to use my gift card on them.
