Everlane reviews: Tees, silk, and sweatshirt
A couple of weeks ago, I shared my Everlane sweater and cardigan reviews. Now it's time for the other half of my Everlane collection: the tees, silk, and marled sweatshirt. For sizing reference, I am typically a size XS/0/25 at J.Crew, Madewell, LOFT, Anthropologie, Gap, and Banana Republic. I wear a size 4-6 in H&M and its sister stores (depending on the item). For stores that use juniors sizing, such as Forever 21 and ModCloth, I am usually a size small. My Uniqlo size is either XS or small (again, depending on the item). Everlane includes garment measurements for each item, which I find incredibly helpful when it comes to determining the right size to buy. You can find all of my previous Everlane reviews at the end of the post and browse all of my clothing reviews here.
The Box-Cut Tee (white, size XS)
I love this tee! I was very pleasantly surprised by it. Yes, it is cut boxy as the name suggests, so keep that in mind. I don't think it makes me look shapeless, though. The cropped hem is perfect to offset the boxiness. I find it to be not totally opaque but definitely more opaque than the cotton v-neck tee (below). I believe it shrunk very slightly in the wash; if anything, it shrunk a bit width-wise. I love this tee more than the v-neck tee. It feels very "me"; it has more of the vibe I go for with my outfits.
How I wore it: with floral, with a red skirt and sandals, with shorts and flats, with a green jacket and red skirt, with high-rise jeans, with shorts and sneakers
The Cotton V (white, size XS & true black, size XS)
The white v-neck tee was my very first purchase from Everlane and has been my most-worn Everlane item, not surprisingly. I really like how this tee fits, and v-neck isn't too low. The white tee is slightly sheer but not enough to warrant wearing a camisole underneath. A skin-colored bra is fine for me. The tee is slightly long, but it did shrink a bit length-wise when I washed it. (I haven't washed the black tee yet, but I expect the same to happen to it.) It's still a great length for tucking. It's also kind of become a bit more grey from washing; it's fairly obvious when I put it next to the box-cut tee. The only thing that annoys me about it is the fact that the neckline wrinkles kind of like cooked bacon. I did try to iron it out before shooting these photos but you can still see it in the white tee. Overall, I'm very pleased with this tee—pretty obvious considering I purchased a second one in true black (which I liked more than the 'muted black' Everlane also offers). We'll see how much I end up wearing the black tee.
How I wore the white tee: with a chunky cardigan, with boyfriend jeans, with a blazer & trench coat, with a striped skirt, with shorts, with beige and white, with a floral scarf
How I wore the black tee: with a blue skirt
The Silk Pocket (black, size XS)
I picked up this top during their "Pay What You Want" sale held at the end of December 2015. I had been wanting to try their silk, and it was reduced to a price that was just right for me. This top fits well in the XS; the sleeves are long enough, it doesn't pull at the chest, and it drapes nicely. It is somewhat difficult to get on and off because of the slightly dropped shoulders; the seams are tight on my shoulders when I lift up my arms. The length is also longer than I would prefer, but it's really a minor issue. The black is not as rich as I was expecting, but it's still nice. The silk is very soft and feels nice quality. However, there's a section of thread along the seam of my left arm that was fraying quite strangely. I trimmed it and it doesn't seem to have caused any major problems. I haven't washed it, but I'm going to likely hand wash it when the time comes. I did steam it when I first got it to get out the wrinkles, but I ended up needing to iron it (over a cloth) for the really stubborn wrinkles. I think there might also be a couple of spots from the water from steaming, but they're barely noticeable.
How I wore it: with all black, with a pendant necklace, with green pants, with windowpane and a hat, with a plaid coat
The Crew Sweatshirt (navy marled, size S)
I debated between size XS and S for this sweatshirt when I ordered it a little over a year ago. I opted to go for the small to have a bit of extra sleeve length. This resulted in a slightly boxier body, but it's not too boxy. The length is perfect, and while I would prefer the sleeves to be a touch longer, it's still a nice sweatshirt that I wear a lot—especially to lounge around the house! The neckline does curl and stick out a bit. However, this sweatshirt washes really well, and I would definitely recommend it if you're in the market! :)
How I wore it: with a green jacket, with layers, with white jeans
