Indian summer
For the past couple of weeks, there have been a number of days with temperatures well above "normal" for this time of year (read: 80+ degrees). This is pretty typical for Utah. Fall here isn't perfect, crisp 60-70 degree temperatures for three month straight, as much as I wish it was. It's basically one week of hot (the Indian summer), then a week of cold and rain, maybe a week of warmth after that, then perhaps a bit of snow the next week. It's essentially a meteorological rollercoaster and somewhat frustrating to dress for. I seem to have no problems coming up with outfits to suit the perfect 60-70 degree days and few for 80+ or below 60 days. We just finished a long stretch of abnormally warm weather and now we are entering in the cold and rainy weather. (It has really put a damper on my outfit plans this week.)
All that to say, here's an outfit I wore last week during our Indian summer. (I did wear a jacket to school in the morning but was able to shed it by afternoon--typical.) I was inspired by this pin I found on Pinterest (originally posted on the blog Katherine is Awesome). I recreated the look by tucking my flared striped top from Anthropologie into my flared skirt and letting the top billow out a bit. (I wonder now if wearing my A-line skirt would have been better? This flared skirt just seems kind of long.) I finished the look with my burgundy ankle boots, which admittedly don't get as much wear as my other ankle boots because the heel height is quite high! I thought the colors worked perfectly, though.
Side note: Chris and I just returned from a quick trip to Texas to visit our friend in Waco and see the 1989 World Tour (again!) in Dallas. Some snaps from the trip can be found on my Instagram!
