One of my favorite Christmas traditions is to see The Nutcracker ballet, much to my boyfriend's dismay. ;) Sure, the story is the same every time, but the music is my favorite part...and the ballet is just fun to watch (and not just because I took a few years of adult ballet classes)! I started seeing it with my mom many years ago and saw it every year I was in Utah. This year, Ballet West (based in Salt Lake City) switched up the props and costumes thanks to a very generous donation, so I was very excited to catch a showing when we were in town last week!

Ever year, I struggle with what to wear to The Nutcracker. It's always freezing cold, but I don't have any "formal" dresses with sleeves, so I have to get a little creative with layering in order to stay warm. Cropped sweaters work perfectly in this situation! I layered my burgundy cashmere cropped sweater over a LBD I picked up last year for an easy but chic combination. My luxe velvet boots and sparkly statement necklace finished the look perfectly. I picked up these tights from Madewell because it wasn't quite cold enough for the fleece-lined tights I brought, and they were actually quite comfortable. I wish they were a little more opaque, but they worked great in a pinch.
