All about the dress-over-pants trend
This isn't my first taste of the dress-over-pants trend; I wore my asymmetrical lace dress over pants last spring. While I was skeptical of the look at first, I have come to appreciate it. I definitely prefer wearing pants over tights if I had to choose, and pants create a bit of a different look than tights. (Remember when everyone layered leggings under dresses? It reminds me of that in a way, but better...haha.) Plus, pants tend to be warmer than tights. I'm actually planning to try layering a dress over a pair of skinny jeans this spring. Gettin' crazy over here!
My black ponte pants are the obvious choice when it comes to the pants part of the layering equation. This time, I decided to winterize my red striped shift dress by wearing it over the pants and adding a camel cashmere cardigan. This dress was a perfect candidate because it's short and it's not structured. It kind of acts more like a tunic than a dress here. I almost decided to wear a belt to cinch the shift shape of the dress a bit, but I really liked the effect of leaving it loose and casual. If I wore this again, I would probably wear a pendant necklace with this to break up the stripes a bit... Oh well. :) It was a fun outfit that I'm glad I took out for a spin!
