Grad Student Style: Research Symposium
In addition to the conference I presented at a couple of months ago, I also recently attended a small research symposium at my university. There's not a huge difference between conferences and symposiums, especially when it comes to what to wear. Research is presented at both, but symposiums are generally smaller and more intimate and only last a few hours versus a multi-day conference (at least in my experience). The symposium I attended featured research from a wide variety of fields, so it's a little bit of a different environment. (My poster was one of the few featuring math equations! Most other topics were way over my head...)
I ordered these Frye 'Melissa Button' boots during my January shopping freeze because I wanted them specifically for this event. The shape and style of the boots make them slightly more casual than, say, my brown Cole Haan tall boots, but they still felt appropriate since I like to dress "smart casual". I absolutely love them paired with my black J.Crew 'Pixie' pants. I kept the look monochrome with a grey cropped sweater layered over my heather grey peplum top, so I added the necklace to offset all of the black and grey.
Of course, my trusty Longchamp 'Le Pliage Neo' bag was by my side during the symposium. Have I mentioned how much I love this bag yet? ;) It fits everything I could possibly need and more! (Though sadly, I somehow misplaced or lost my Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in rosé sometime around then, so that's upsetting. I thought I threw it in my bag!)
