My new favorite sneaker brand
I’d like to introduce you to my new favorite brand for athleisure footwear: Earth. It’s a brand you probably are familiar with if you’ve read my blog for any amount of time, but it’s probably not one you associated with sneakers. (Well, unless you caught this post from last month.)
I’ve been partnering with Earth for a few years now to showcase new seasonal styles, and today’s post is all about one of their athleisure styles for fall/winter 2018. I picked out the Earth ‘Boomer’ sneakers in black; they’re a lightweight sneaker featuring a wool upper, smooth interior, and the signature Earth memory foam comfort along the footbed that feels like a cradle against your foot. Trust me when I say that you’re going to want a pair of their sneakers!
A couple of weekends ago, Korri and I set out on a morning bike ride on the greenbelt that winds through the city along the river. We met up with new friends along the way and rode to one of our favorite restaurants downtown for brunch. The air was crisp along the river which made for a refreshing ride as the sun rose higher in the sky. To say it was the perfect day for a bike ride and brunch outside would be an understatement. The only hiccup ended up being flat tires and a quick side trip to a local bike shop for repairs.
I wore my new sneakers for the ride to see how they would hold up, and not surprisingly, it felt like I was wearing clouds on my feet. I wore them with low-profile socks (Smartwool makes my favorite pair), and I don’t particularly think I needed them since the shoes are wool themselves but my feet stayed cool even with the socks. I had no issues with rubbing, even when we had to walk our bikes over to the bike shop. I wore them for a while without socks a few days later and same thing—no rubbing, totally comfortable. I was worried that the tab at the back would rub but I haven’t had any issues so far. I can’t say enough good things about these sneakers! I used to grab my Nikes for bike rides and other light activities but now I’ll be reaching for these.
While their sneakers are not recommended for training or any sort of regular running activity, they’re perfect for quick walks, leisurely bike rides, running errands, travel, and general comfort while living your life. If I knew I had to be on my feet all day, Earth sneakers are the shoes I would choose to wear. You may have caught on Insta stories over this past weekend that I wore my Earth ‘Vital’ sneakers on a day-long trip to Seattle (17-18 hours) and couldn’t believe how not sore my feet were at the end of the day! I have no doubts that the ‘Boomer’ sneakers would be just as comfortable for such an excursion.
As for the rest of my outfit, I went with a look that could take me from bike ride to brunch without looking like I was dressed for only one of those two activities. I didn’t want to wear only workout wear, but I also didn’t want to wear jeans and a nice blouse for brunch since we were riding and not driving. I think the combo of casual hooded pullover + “nice” tank + leggings struck the right balance. I wore the baseball cap when I didn’t have my helmet on because helmet hair is real (plus, it was a sunny day!). I didn’t even need the pullover on the way home because it had warmed up so much! Gotta love those cool mornings and toasty afternoons. :)
