What would YOU do with $1,000,000?!
If you’re anything like me, you daydream about how you would spend $1,000,000 if it fell into your lap. Pay off debt, take a trip (or two…or more!), put some in savings/investments, give to charity? Yes to everything! The first thing I would do is pay off all of Korri’s and my debt, including the house. I’d also go back to the Cook Islands ASAP (and maybe take my whole family with?) and get Korri to the UK or Europe because he’s never been. (We also want to visit NZ!) I’d help my family with their student loans and other expenses, and I’d also put a good chunk into savings (maybe a wedding someday?) and get going with investments. Of course, I’d give a huge chunk to my favorite charities. The holiday season brings me so much joy and gratitude and really makes my heart ache for those that aren’t as fortunate.
Your turn! What would YOU do if you won $1,000,000?!
$1,000,000 could be yours if you play the 13th annual Idaho Lottery Million Dollar Raffle! It’s on sale right now—and if you’re over 18 and live in Idaho or plan to visit anytime soon, you can purchase a $10 raffle ticket for your chance to win! Can you imagine kicking off 2020 as a millionaire?!
Idaho Lottery sponsored this post and provided one complimentary ticket for the Million Dollar Raffle. I’m thrilled to work with a local agency that gives back to the community! As always, all opinions are my own.
Idaho Lottery Million Dollar Raffle
The Idaho-only Million Dollar Raffle happens only once per year (during the holidays!), and tickets will be on sale through December 31st (or when the 250,000th ticket is sold, whichever comes first). As of this post’s publication, fewer than 70,000 tickets remain! The winner will be announced on January 2nd, 2020, on local TV stations in Boise (KTVB), Lewiston (KLEW), Twin Falls (KTFT), and Pocatello/Idaho Falls (KPVI).
There are a total of 14,423 prizes PLUS every 25,000th ticket wins an automatic $1,000! Korri wanted in on the fun and bought his own ticket. We tried to get the 150,000th ticket but we were not so lucky. ;) At least we are both still in the drawing for the grand prize of $1,000,000—and this game has the best odds of winning the grand prize since only a limited number of tickets are sold!

Need a last-minute gift? At only $10 each, Million Dollar Raffle tickets make excellent gifts for the holidays or a December birthday if you’re in a bind. A colleague of mine receives a raffle ticket as a gift every year for Christmas and hopes to be the lucky winner one year. Other Idaho Lottery games also make for fun gifts; my mom is particularly fond of giving the holiday scratchers as stocking stuffers. I’ve yet to win the big prize on any of those, though, haha!
I love that the Idaho Lottery gives back to communities in all 44 counties in Idaho. Funds are returned to Idaho public schools and to the Department of Administration’s Permanent Building Fund (this includes improvements to facilities at state parks and college campuses). A record-setting $60 million was returned to Idaho in fiscal year 2019, and over $900 million has returned to the state since the lottery launched in 1989!
