What to Wear to Match Your Cat
What better way to welcome a new month than to wear an outfit that matches your cat?! Actually, why not match your cat whenever you want? Their many varieties of furry color palettes provide endless outfit inspiration!
I am the master (mistress) of two cats—Rosie (left) and Sybil. Rosie is my sweet and sassy old lady kitty that I adopted about nine years ago. She’s turning 12 this month but you’d never know based on how she plays with her favorite toys. She’s a beautiful tuxedo, which is the best cat to get if you like seeing cat hair on everything (white hair on dark surfaces and black hair on light surfaces).
Sybil is my silly 8-year-old calico that I adopted over six years ago. She is never one to turn down food or a good nap in one of her many napping spots around the house. She’s also a huge fan of the electric blanket. Sybil also has a lot of black and white hair, which makes it difficult to identify if it’s her hair or Rosie’s hair…but if I also find orange hairs, I know they’re hers and not Rosie’s!
What to Wear to Match Your Cat
It’s pretty easy for me to match my outfits to my cats since Rosie is black and white and Sybil is also black and white but with an additional splash of orange. Basically, any outfit I wear to match Rosie can also match Sybil with a quick modification, like adding a cognac brown or tan bag or pair of boots (I don’t wear a whole lot of orange, but cognac brown is the perfect substitute). Black, white, and cognac brown/tan has been one of my favorite color palettes for years now! Below, I shared some of my favorite past outfits that match tuxedo cats (Rosie) and calico cats (Sybil).
Other cat fur color palettes are just as easy to recreate yourself. Do you have a brown or grey tabby? Wear shades of brown or shades of grey! Tortoiseshell? Contrary to popular belief, black and brown do go together (go the cognac brown route). Orange tabby? Take a little bit of fashion liberty and wear cognac brown with white (or wear orange, if that’s your thing!). A seal point siamese? Use the lighter (body) shade as your base and add darker bookends (hat/coat/shoes) to mimic your feline friend. If your cat has patches of various colors that includes white, ground your outfit with white. Of course, cats that are a solid color, such as grey, black, or white, are easy: monochrome! Have some fun with a monochrome outfit by adding various textures. See how easy it is to match your cat?!
Oh, and happy April 1st! 😸
