Back to the Office Style Sudoku Recap
From June 1st through 18th*, I wore the 16 items pictured below in 14 outfits as part of my Back to the Office Style Sudoku. The 14 outfits are made from the rows, columns, corners, and diagonals of the sudoku. A style sudoku is my favorite style challenge—if you know me, you know I’m a big sudoku nerd, and I like that it’s not as restrictive as some other style challenges, which works better for me. Plus, it’s a great way to test out new combinations and find some new favorite outfits to add to the rotation! I also love knowing what I’m wearing every day!
*I’m doing two makeup days this upcoming week due to a mess up/sudden holiday. More on that below!
Back to the Office Style Sudoku Capsule Wardrobe
A style sudoku was the PERFECT style challenge to do to get myself back into creating outfits for the office. I’m doubting my ability (and desire) to keep creating thoughtful work outfits like these, haha! Back to sweatshirts and jeans I go. I do have a couple of makeup days first: I accidentally wore the outfit from day 5 again on day 7 without realizing it, and I didn’t end up wearing day 14 because we observed Juneteenth, the newest national holiday, and I didn’t go into the office.
I’m actually highly considering wearing the two bonus outfits (see those highlighted below!) this time just because I’m not ready to go back to the rest of my wardrobe! Normally I’m jonesing to wear everything else, but I really cannot overstate how much it helps to already have outfits picked out for me and knowing what I’m wearing every morning. It made my mornings MUCH easier. Note to self: Keep putting together outfits ahead of time so my mornings remain streamlined on that end.
WHAT WORKED & WHAT DIDN’T
I loved having the mix of jeans and more lightweight bottoms (midi skirt, wide leg cropped pants) for the unpredictable spring weather. I was able to wear jeans the week that it felt more like spring and the skirt and loose pants for the days when the temperature reached nearly 100°F. It rained only one day in the three weeks of my sudoku, and I was glad to have my sneakers for that day so I didn’t ruin a pair of sandals. I also loved the far right column outfit—it was an unexpected combo that worked!
I was still freezing in my office on the days I wore my blazers over the sleeveless tops. My camel cardigan was a much better option for the office (it’s cashmere, which feels ridiculous to wear in the summer!). I ended up needing to add another layer with the four outfits that featured the necklace instead of a top layer. I also liked the wide leg crop pants outfits the least; the rise was awkward in that the floral top didn’t like to stay tucked and it was hard to get a good tuck with the tee. It’s probably best suited for bodysuits so I don’t have to mess with tucking.
Below you’ll find all of my outfits and where they landed on the sudoku, two bonus outfits, a widget where you can shop the exact or similar items I wore, and a blank style sudoku so you can make your own!
