Link Love, vol. 26
Today is World Meteorological Day! I feel like I’m not a very good atmospheric scientist if I don’t point that out. 😉 It also happens to be my half birthday, which feels kinda fitting? There have been some terrifying storms popping up over the southern states these past few days. Spring weather is here! Don’t forget to make your plan for when/if severe weather strikes! Make sure you have a working weather radio (don’t rely on tornado sirens to warn you inside—those are only for the people outdoors) and take a weather spotter class from your local NWS office if you’re able. You’ll feel more confident about the weather if you know what you’re looking at in the sky!
Because it’s World Meteorological Day (and also Women’s History Month), read about the incredible and groundbreaking accomplishments of these six women in atmospheric sciences (via Washington Post)! (Thank you to Alyssa for sending along this link!)
A couple of weeks ago, I visited Arizona for the first time ever! (I had been to the Phoenix airport before, but this was my first time leaving the airport!) Korri and I went to watch a gymnastics meet—what else?!—and had a little bit of time to kill to check out the Chihuly in the Desert blown glass exhibit at the Desert Botanical Garden. I shared more photos and also where we ate in this Instagram post if you’re looking for Tempe recommendations! (One place was a reader rec that was SO yummy!)
Kate wrote an essay on why it’s okay to not be liked by everyone you meet. As a chronic people pleaser, I’m not sure I’ve ever related to (and needed to read) anything more in my life.
Did you see this tornado-meets-truck video?! HOW?!?! 🤯
Super loved reading this reminder that life’s a party, not a race (via Cup of Jo)! I’m definitely someone that feels “behind” everyone else—I finished my PhD a few years ago and now what? I haven’t really crossed off any other major life events since then. Love this reminder that we all do life at our own pace.
Poshmark has been running random free shipping hours over the past week for the first time ever. I hope they keep it going! Ready to clean out your closet? Check out my tips for selling on Poshmark + shop my closet! (Sign up with code HURRICANEKIMI for $10 off your first order.)
I’ve gotten through way more books these past couple of months than I thought I would! I’ll share my recent reads in a blog post next month, but in the meantime, follow me (or request to be my friend) on StoryGraph! It’s been fun tackling and adding new books to my TBR list.
Some things on my spring wish list: a floral shirred tie neck blouse by LOFT (love this pattern so much), the tencel jersey mini swing dress by Quince (such a great multi-season basic), a pair of light wash demi-boot jeans by Madewell (made of TENCEL denim which is the comfiest material ever!), and the perfect round toe pump by Sarah Flint (I have nowhere to wear these but isn’t the cognac color absolutely gorgeous?!).
