After my January shopping freeze, I decided to spend the rest of my quarterly budget on the Frye 'Melissa Button' boots that I've wanted for years. My wish list is relatively small right now so I decided to treat myself to a splurge purchase, and I'm not mad about it. ;) They're currently at the cobbler with my Charlotte Olympia 'Kitty' flats having the soles protected so they'll last me for years!
I linked to the pair at Nordstrom above since that's where I bought mine from, but they're also available at Macy's and Zappos. Macy's had a cheaper price than Nordstrom when I bought mine, so I price-matched; I'd suggest keeping an eye on the prices if you're interested in them so you can get the lowest price! I saw them in store in mid-January and tried them on in my usual size 7, but they felt a bit roomy. I didn't have time to try on a 6.5, but that seemed like the right choiceβand I was right (luckily!). The 6.5 fits perfectly around the foot and leg (they were definitely made for smaller calves). I'd say the only downside is the lack of zippers. They're incredibly difficult to get on and off!
I thought the Frye boots would be my only purchase of the month until I won a Madewell gift card. I used that along with another gift card to buy yet another pair of black boots (ha). I was heartbroken when the 'Frankie' chelsea boots sold out in my size online, but there was a pair available still in stores that I snagged; not to mention, I was fully prepared to pay $160 for the boots, but they gave me 50% off the sale price. Madewell is seriously the best! I wear my black Sam Edelman 'Petty' boots so much that I wanted an alternative, and these are perfect.
I also partnered again with Grana to review the silk bomber jacket, silk sleeveless shirt dress, and flannel shirt dress. I picked items that I thought I would get plenty of wear out of: another light jacket, because you can't have too many here, and a couple of dresses, since I've been cleaning out that section of my closet.
My budget resets next month, and I'm not gonna lieβI'm pretty excited about it. ;) There are a few more expensive items on my list that will require me to be more strategic about purchases, but my wardrobe additions so far this year have been more intentional, and I'm excited to keep that up in the months ahead!
