Everlane Reviews: Organic Cotton Box-cut Tee, Silky Cotton Cropped Shirt, Easy Short

I ordered a few new things from Everlane within the past couple of months, so it’s time for another round of reviews! I grabbed some pieces that are perfect for spring/summer: two organic cotton box cut tees, the silky cotton cropped shirt (loved it at first sight!), and the easy short. The shirt was backordered which is why I’m just now sharing these reviews (and it’s currently on backorder again). For sizing reference, my current pandemic size is XS-S/0-2/25-26 depending on the item. Before the pandemic, I was typically a size XS/0/25. I am borderline petite at 5’4” and have broad shoulders and long arms. I tend to size up in tops for extra room in the shoulders and length in the sleeves. I buy a mix of petite and regular length jeans and pants depending on the inseam.

Everlane includes garment measurements for each item, which I find incredibly helpful when it comes to determining the right size to buy; I recommend comparing the measurements to other items you own and love. Find a list of all of my Everlane reviews at the end of the post!

The Organic Cotton Box-Cut Tee (white and white/scarlet stripe, size S)

Everlane’s original cotton box-cut tee in white was one of my very first purchases from the brand way back in 2015! It’s been well loved since then, so I ordered the organic cotton box-cut tee in white as well as another color—the white/scarlet stripe. I opted for a size small this time for a roomier fit and for the style without a breast pocket for a sleeker look.

Both colors fit pretty much the same, which is what you’d expect since they’re the same style! Neither color is really sheer, either; I’d say the white is slightly more sheer than the scarlet stripes, but it’s not super obvious in these photos. I notice it more in person. If sheerness is something that bothers you keep that in mind! I definitely prefer opaque shirts so I can wear them to work (or anywhere really) and not need a tank or something underneath. The fewer layers, the better.

The Silky Cotton Cropped Shirt (mariner blue/white stripe, size S)

I missed out on this shirt when it was first released and had to wait for a restock! I absolutely fell in love when I first saw this shirt and knew immediately I was going to order it. I do own two other blue striped shirts that are quite similar to this one…so I definitely have a type. But they’re all different: one has short sleeves, this one is cropped, and the other is more like a “typical” long-sleeved button-down shirt haha!

I debated between sizes XS and small and ended up going for a small so I knew the shoulders woulnd’t be too tight. This also gave me some extra sleeve length. The downside is the body is quite boxy in this size, but I kinda love it? It’s giving me I-cut-off-the-bottom-of-my-partner’s-shirt vibes. (Do people do that? Haha.)

The cropped length isn’t too short on my frame, and the fabric really is silky smooth/soft. I anticipate wearing this shirt with all of my high-rise jeans and pants! Even though it is long-sleeved, the boxy style provides good airflow in the warmer months. And it’s not sheer!

The Easy Short (blue stripe, size 2)

I felt like I was in need of a new pair of shorts, so I ordered the easy short in two colors: blue stripe (shown here) and fern (a pretty dark green). I ended up not loving the fern color on me and thought the solid color would show wrinkles more, so back they went. I also had a reader tell me she also returned them because of the Girl Scout vibes…and I can totally see why haha!

When I first tried these on, I wasn’t sure about the inseam length. I typically go for a 4” inseam, and even though these are only a 5” inseam, that extra inch feels like a lot. I think I just need to get used to it (and I’m over 30 sooo yeah my legs aren’t getting any younger LOL). I do think they run a bit small and would probably feel more comfortable with the extra room provided by a size 4, but the 2 isn’t uncomfortable. The pockets are huge and fabulous, as is the elastic waistband!

How I wore it: with a tied tee and sandals
